John Krasinski, best known for his roles in The Office and A Quiet Place, has been named People Magazine’s 2024 “Sexiest Man Alive.”

The big reveal was made on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where Krasinski took over the title from last year’s winner, Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey. Colbert playfully introduced the honor, saying, “I’m so proud to see my friend go from goofy, lovable boy next door to big, dumb sex hunk.”

Krasinski, who starred as Jim Halpert on The Office from 2005 to 2013, has also made a name for himself as an action hero, playing Jack Ryan in Amazon Prime Video’s hit series for four seasons. Marvel fans may recognize him from his cameo as Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

During his conversation with Colbert, Krasinski joked about keeping the “Sexiest Man Alive” news mostly under wraps, admitting he let it slip to fellow actor Matt Damon. “The only person I told was Matt Damon,” Krasinski said. “I was at his birthday party the day we did the shoot. I showed up late, and he asked, ‘What kept you?’ So I said, ‘People’s Sexiest!’”

Krasinski also took the opportunity to announce he would be reprising his role as Jack Ryan in an upcoming film, giving fans even more to look forward to.

Married to actress Emily Blunt since 2010, Krasinski shares two daughters with her—Hazel, 10, and Violet, 7. Blunt has shared that their daughters are unaware of their parents’ fame, explaining in a 2021 interview with The Sunday Times that the couple keeps their family life private.
