Tod's showcased their Spring/Summer 2024 collection during Milan Fashion Week SS24.

Tod's Spring 2024 collection, the final one under the creative direction of Walter Chiapponi, elegantly combined '90s minimalism with the timeless allure of Italian elegance, all while paying homage to the skilled artisans behind the brand.

Unveiled during Milan Fashion Week at Laboratori Scala Ansaldo, where some of Tod's artisans practice their craft, the collection shines a spotlight on the meticulous material work and craftsmanship that goes into creating each garment. Expertly tailored suits and trench coats are designed to drape loosely on the body, creating an illusion of added volume when in motion. Leather skirts feature precise pleating, providing a striking contrast to the flowing drapery seen on blouses and the relaxed, crocheted knitwear. The accessories proudly showcase Tod's artisanal expertise, whether in the form of the Di Bag, asymmetric waist belts, or leather gloves.

Overall, the collection strikes a delicate balance between comfort and fluidity while also maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. Embellishments are sparingly used, and accessories, including jewelry, are understated, so as to not overwhelm the designs. The color palette is intentionally restrained and draws inspiration from the natural world, featuring earthy shades of black, cream, camel, blue, and olive green. However, pops of lime green make a notable appearance in later looks, adorning a poplin T-shirt, trench coat, and jumpsuit.

In his farewell collection, Chiapponi has essentially crafted a heartfelt tribute to his team while leaving a lasting impression on Tod's loyal clientele. As for the brand's future creative direction, the successor has yet to be announced.
