Quality Facial Washes Will Nurture Your Skin

Most of us are used to simply using whatever soap is on hand to wash our faces. Unfortunately, this can be a terrible way of cleaning your skin; a much better approach is to use a facial wash or cleanser. Our skin is actually fairly acidic, which is a way that it protects itself from microbes and other factors that might affect it. This protective acidic layer is called the ‘acid mantle’ and is formed by secretions from the sebaceous glands. Maintaining the acid mantle is important for your skin’s health, but all too often we use alkaline soaps which can destroy the mantle and dry out the skin. As we age, our skin actually becomes more acidic, undoubtedly due to all the stresses to which it has been subjected.

Face Washes for Your Skin Type

Every skin type can benefit from using a quality facial wash, rather than soap. Maintaining the proper pH balance will not only help to ameliorate problems that already exist with your skin, but can also prevent issues from arising in the future. A good face wash can help to keep the skin looking younger by preventing excessive drying and wrinkling.
  • Problem skin that is troubled with acne can definitely benefit from using the best face wash for acne instead of the wrong kind of bar soap. When dealing with acne, not only does the acid mantle need to be considered, but there will also be the problem of excess oiliness and infected pustules. If too much oil is removed, the body will accelerate production of oil to compensate, so a very delicate balance must be maintained.

  • Dry skin is always going to be more likely to develop wrinkles and to show the signs of aging before it should. Soaps and cleansers that cause the skin to become drier should be avoided, and a facial wash for dry skin should clean thoroughly, but gently. You might look for one that contains hyaluronic acid as this will keep your skin moist.

  • Oily skin is not confined to the teen years, and many women (including myself) have had oily skin our entire lives. While there may be some advantages to oily skin, such as fewer wrinkles, it does have its downside in producing shininess and the occasional blemish. The object here is to remove excess oil without scouring the skin completely. A good cleanser for oily skin will also tighten up enlarged pores.

  • Sensitive skin reacts negatively to soap or facial wash ingredients that are too harsh. Redness, flaking, and itching can result if your choice of cleanser contains too many chemicals and artificial ingredients. Look for a cleansing product made without alcohol, fragrance, or coloring elements – these add more possibilities for irritation. Avoid cleansers that contain petroleum derivatives, too.

  • Aging skin definitely needs to be treated gently. As our skin ages, it loses its ability to renew itself as it previously did. While the cleansing action has to be gentle, it also has to help exfoliate dead skin cells to provide for a fresher, brighter complexion. Aging skin is often dry skin, which can make wrinkling worse; the perfect cleanser for this skin type would be one that hydrates.

Using Face Washes in Your Beauty Regimen

One of the keys to keeping your skin looking its best, regardless of type, is to establish a regimen and stick with it. Using a good face cleanser one day, then backsliding to an alkaline soap will provide no lasting benefits at all. It’s not hard to establish a pattern that will make following your regimen easy and enjoyable. You will want to use this regimen in the morning and in the evening to provide care for your skin.
  • Use a facial wash when you shower or bathe in the morning. This will help to remove any moisturizer you put on the night before, as well as excess oils and dead skin cells. After you are finished washing, pat your face dry, rather than rubbing it, which can cause irritation.

  • A moisturizer is next, and the one that matches your skin type will help to prepare your skin not only for makeup but also for environmental conditions such as heat, cold, pollution, and stress. Make sure that you gently rub the moisturizer in completely, and a little usually goes a long way.

  • Apply your makeup right over the moisturizer and you’re ready for your day.

  • In the evening, you will want to first remove makeup and any pollution which may have settled onto your skin. This will be important if you live in a city where there are frequently airborne pollutants. Use your face wash to do this, and pat your face dry afterwards.

  • Once your face is dry, apply moisturizer or beauty cream. These products will help to nourish and replenish tired skin.
You can also try a fascial massage on your own or with a professional. The method involves pressing pressure points on the shoulders, neck, and face. Do you want to know what is fascial stretch therapy? You may also visit Castleflexx for more information about this.

After this part of your regimen is complete, don’t forget the last part – a good night’s sleep.
