I ordered a huge haul from ColourPop, and today I am going to review its liquid lipstick in the shade Mars.
ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Mars description:
"Whether you're from Mars or Venus this red fuchsia will be fab on you"
ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks are available in a clear packaging with a silver cap. You can see the lipstick colour through the packaging, but the shade isn't exactly as it appears in the packaging. The silver cap has an ordinary doe foot applicator attached to it, which is quite long and takes out product from the end too. The liquid lipstick tube is generously filled with the product and it will last you a long time. If you will not shut the cap securely, the liquid lipstick might dry out. The quality of the packaging is not of great quality, and the ColourPop logo rubs off after some time. The product doesn't leak and the packaging is safe for travelling.
The liquid lipstick in Mars is a very deep bright fuchsia pink that will look good on the majority of skin tones. It is a blue based pink, so it will make your teeth look whiter. In the beginning when you get the liquid lipstick, it is quite full and the product does overflow a bit every time you put the applicator in and screw on the cap. The product is of a liquid consistency, and you can easily apply it to your lips before it dries after 30 seconds. After a while, the formula gets thicker and you have less than 8 seconds of time to apply, before it dries down completely.
This is one of the original shades of ColourPop liquid lipsticks and it has a drier formula. It is probably the most drying liquid lipstick formula out there, but if you have normal lips, you don't need to worry. For people like me who have very dry lips, if you don't use a lip balm underneath, it will be become dry and crumbly on your lips, indeed, a not pretty sight. These liquid lipsticks are super pigmented, some of the shades apply patchy, but not Mars, it applies smoothly and evenly. The ColourPop liquid lipsticks are transfer proof, don't bleed or feather, and last you a long while. If you do not eat, it will last you for 6-8 hours and even with eating if you don't eat greasy food, it lasts you a long time.
ColourPop advises you to exfoliate your lips before applying their liquid lipsticks because with any dead skin it will look patchy. Due to the dry formula, you can't layer it on. If you try to put a second layer of liquid lipstick or use a lip gloss over it, it will start to crumble up and won't look nice. Other than that, these liquid lipsticks have amazing pigmentation and if you don't try to remove it, it will last on your lips for more than a day. It is difficult to remove these liquid lipsticks, and I use a strong makeup remover to take them off.
